hey secret senders/recipients! it's time for the long awaited exchange day!please remember that this event is meant to be light-hearted, and embodies the spirit of giving! every participant has put their best effort into their pieces, so it is important we acknowledge and appreciate that ^^ make sure to give yourself and your secret sender a pat on the back, you all deserve it!!if you plan on posting your work on social media, make sure to ask your recipient for permission, especially if it contains their original content!

hey secret senders! this is your 1 day reminder that gifts are expected to be completed and submitted through direct message! (December 20th at 7 PM CST)again, if you are struggling to complete your piece, reach out as soon as you can! i will offer an extension upon request, or i can get a pinch hitter to take your place--the last day to request an extension will be tomorrow, December 20th at 7 PM CST.if you would like to update your gift(s), you have until December 24th at 12 pm to direct message me your new work!last note! ill be sending out an exit survey, similar to the interest form, after the event! most likely on the 27th :-) please keep an eye out for that once its released, thank you!keep up the amazing work, see you all again soon!!

12.13.25 - 1 WEEK REMINDER!
hey secret senders! just another reminder that there is 1 week left in the work period, with final submissions due Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 7:00 PM CST.If you haven't sent in progress yet, I'll be going around at the end of the day today to check on you! 🙂↕️Otherwise, keep up the good work everyone, and feel free to send in your piece early if you complete before the final deadline!HOW WILL GIFTS BE EXCHANGED?
I expect to have most gifts completed and submitted by December 20th @ 7:00 PM CST, so the period between the final deadline to exchange day will be spent replacing your profile carrd with your gifts!Once every profile has been updated, I will make an announcement on December 24th @ 7 PM CST that gifts are ready to be viewed. You are also free to post your artwork on social media and/or dm your recipients and secret sender, but please wait until the announcement has been sent!Then, every work will be published in a gallery on the website--if you absolutely do not want your work featured in the gallery, reach out and let me know!

11.30.25 - 3 WEEK REMINDER!
hey participants! just another reminder that there are 3 weeks left in the working period to complete your gift(s). additionally, check-ins will be taking place this Saturday, December 6th, so be sure to have some work done by then!HOW DO I PASS THE CHECKPOINT?
during the check-in period, i will be looking out for some sort of progress from you:simply take a screenshot of your work, send it to the direct/private message platform you have been receiving announcements through (discord/tumblr/insta dms), and i'll let you know that i've seen your progress! here's what i'm expecting:ARTWORK: have a sketch/concept drawn or more!
WRITING: have at least 500+ words written!you may upload progress as early as you'd like, but if you need an extension, please let me know. failure to upload a progress image (without notice) by 12/06 will result in a strike, and you cannot view your gift until a progress image has been submitted!another thing to note, you may not change any details in your profile after December 6th! please message me if you need to upload more reference photos or edit notes.

hey participants, thank you all for your patience! everyone should have received their assignments, including double-time.remember to follow the guidelines as you complete your gift(s)--you can review them in about/guidelines! if you need any help with gift ideas, sending anonymous messages to your secret recipient, or anything else, i can assist with that :-)by December 6th at 7 PM CST, you are expected to have sent in a progress photo. this is to ensure you have begun your present, and will deliver by the final date. if you need an extension or must drop out for any reason, PLEASE contact @qwiopty ASAP! otherwise, you may send in progress whenever you'd like ^^

hey all! assignments should be going out starting Saturday, November 22nd at 7 PM CST! please find this time relative to your time zone for accuracy!please also make sure you are updated by checking this site at least weekly--if you use Discord as a primary communication channel, it is highly recommended you join the art server for earliest news! otherwise, all other announcements for Instagram/Tumblr will be featured on the event site.ASSIGNMENT INFO:
at around 7 PM CST, i'll be sending out a message to every participant containing reminders, resources, and confirming additional preferences!after you've received the message, reply with some form of confirmation (reacting to the message, sending thanks or thumbs up, etc.) and i'll give you your assignment!your assignment will come in the form of a name instead of a number! make sure to keep this a secret until exchange day!ABOUT REROLLS

GENERAL EVENT RULES
You must be 13 years old or older to participate in this event.Once you have submitted the application for this event, you are assumed to have read through all of the event guidelines, and agree to follow them.This event intends to be safe and inclusive for all participants. Any displays of content/behavior that is hateful or discriminatory is prohibited (including transphobia, homophobia, racism, xenophobia, ableism, sexism, and any use of slurs). Anyone who displays these will be removed from the event.Moderators reserve the right to remove participants who violate our rules and guidelines.ABOUT APPLICATION...
To join the event, you must fill out the application and agree to follow our event guidelines!Some sections may ask about references, however you are not required to have them all ready by the form close date, November 15th. You may provide references until the check-in period on December 6th.If you are having trouble filling out the form, feel free to contact @qwiopty through direct message!ABOUT PINCH HITTERS...
In the event that a participant must drop out of the event, pinch hitters will be able to fill in for them! Anyone may opt-in to be a pinch hitter, and opportunities will be first-come, first serve. Please note that you are only creating another piece of artwork, not receiving another piece of artwork.ABOUT LOCKERS...
Lockers are used to house all info about your assignment, and will be repurposed at the end of the event to reveal artworks to participants! If you are having trouble navigating lockers, please reach out to @qwiopty.ABOUT GIFTS...
Gifts include artwork, writing, and anything else approved by those participating in the event! As this is an open event, we require that all artworks are appropriate, SFW, and are made entirely by yourself!Gifts must be able to be sent via direct message! The event will operate primarily through Discord, however Tumblr and Instagram are being considered for additional spaces!There will be a checkpoint halfway through the event to ensure that you have been working on your gift. If you do not show any progress, you will not be allowed to view your gift until you have shown proof of effort.ABOUT STRIKES/DROP OUTS...
Once you have joined the event, we expect that you are fully committed to participating. If you can no longer participate, please notify @qwiopty before the progress check on 12/6. Those that drop out after the progress check will receive a strike for any future art exchanges hosted by qwiopty's art qlub.You may also receive a strike for:
- Not submitting progress on time
- Creating a work that is traced/stolen/involves the use of AI
- Creating a work that has hateful or discriminatory content.( Racism, Xenophobia, Transphobia, Homophobia, Ableist, Sexist, Uses slurs.)After a participant has received two strikes, you will be removed from the event and potentially barred from joining any future events hosted by qwiopty's art qlub.ABOUT MODERATION...
qwiopty's holiday exchange is operated entirely by @qwiopty, from asset creation to website building to communication to operation! Please be patient with any mistakes that may occur :-)

Q: What do I put in for the wishlist?
A: When filling out the application, you will be asked to list your interests as well as make a special request/wish list! If you have a specific drawing or writing prompt you would love to see fulfilled, you may note it in the application, however you are not required to leave one and Secret Santas are not required to follow them!Q: Do I need a fully fleshed out reference sheet?
A: Nope, just whatever you want or are able to provide! If you plan to provide references, you will be able to upload them in the application form AND update them for the first few weeks of the event! In the case that your Secret Santa needs more detail or reference, I will pass their request to you anonymously.Q: What's a Pinch Hitter?
A: Pinch Hitters are substitutes/fill-ins for any unexpected events! For instance, if a participant were to drop out of the event, a pinch hitter would take their place and continue making a present for their assigned recipients.Q: Are there specific rules on artworks involving two characters?*
A: As of right now, there are no rules or restrictions on the amount of characters involved or the render level required, it would likely depend on the comfort level of your Secret Santa! This may change once the applications have been officially sent out, but for the most part there won't be any super strict guidelines regarding character amount or render quality.Q: Is there a rule on ship related content?*
A: As long as they abide by the event guidelines, ship content should be fine! Again, this may depend on the comfort level of your Secret Santa._{*Please keep in mind that this event places more emphasis on the creation of gifted artworks for others! Special request/wish list items are meant to give direction for gifted artworks and are not guaranteed requests for participants. We will be asking every participant for preferences for making/receiving gifts, and doing our best to match them to another participant!}Where will the event be held?
A: All event communications will be primarily sent through Discord, but we are looking at the possibility of hosting the event across platforms like Tumblr and Instagram!
